On a hazy June morning at the last day of school, Lake Lure Classical Academy (LLCA) staff, students, parents and board members said goodbye to their temporary home of the last five years. The LLCA Raptors are excited to move to their new “nest” on Island Creek Road this fall. “The next time we will all be together, it will be on our new campus,” said School Director Jessica Boland at the Parent Appreciation Breakfast and Awards Day Ceremony. In addition to the big move, the school will expand to include the 12th grade.6_vlcsnap-2015-06-11-17h06m52s43

LLCA board member and Facility Committee Chair Russ Pitts showed the crowd a video that showed the progression of the construction project to date. The 50,000 square foot building is divided into three wings: elementary, middle school and high school. The campus will include athletic fields, a regulation-size outdoor basketball court, and substantial elementary playground.

Lake Lure Classical Academy, a Challenge Foundation Academy, is a K-12 tuition-free public charter school. Enrollment is currently open for all grades, however, administrators advise enrolling now before a lottery status becomes effective in the near future.
