Why must all the news we get,
Always stress bad events.
There are many, many good things,
Done by folks with good intents.

There are many outstanding athletes,
Who contribute much with their lives.
But the ones that make the headlines,
Are the ones who abuse their wives.

Musicians and entertainers give us pleasure,
With performances that are flawless.
But the newspapers and the tabloids,
Paint many of these artists as lawless.

Unheralded churchmen devote their lives,
Unselfishly serving our spiritual needs.
But let one of these step out of line,
And the news covers this one’s deeds.

Let’s give credit where credit is due,
To those who deserve our praising.
Don’t get wrapped up in all the bad news.
The unreported good works are amazing.
