The Lake Lure Flowering Bridge will officially dedicate and open its new Sensory Trail on Saturday, June 4, at 11:00 a.m.  With support and cooperation from the Lake Lure Lions Club, visually impaired guests from across the Carolinas are invited to “take a walk and breathe in the beauty” as they stroll along the Sensory Trail path.  Garden volunteers are working to create this unique experience with careful consideration for the layout of each garden bed.

An audio tour will be available that visitors can access on their mobile phones at stops throughout the gardens to learn more about the plants and this unique place.  For the visually impaired, a special version of the tour will reference plants that can be felt or smelled, as well as the sounds of the birds and bees and the effects of the breeze that comes down the Gorge much of the time.
