After an extensive search process, the Board of Directors of the Lake Lure Classical Academy is delighted to announce the appointment of Thomas G. Keever as the school’s new Executive Director. The Executive Director will be instrumental by providing the instructional, operational, and administrative leadership necessary to ensure the success of the school.
Mr. Keever is a veteran educator with a background in international education, as well as the U.S. public school system. Mr. Keever has been a teacher and principal at schools in Venezuela, Syria, Chile, Myanmar and Poland. “The experience I have gained working with students and families internationally has been instrumental in my professional and personal growth,” Mr. Keever states. Additionally, Mr. Keever also served as an assistant principal and principal in Buncombe County Schools. While principal at Valley Springs, Mr. Keever was recognized by his peers as Buncombe County Principal of the Year and, subsequently, was recognized as the Western Region Principal of the Year. After a successful three-year tenure at Enka Middle School, Mr. Keever retired from N.C. Public School service.
On his appointment at Lake Lure Classical Academy, Mr. Keever states, “The potential for Lake Lure Classical Academy to develop into a lighthouse for students is tremendous. The faculty is first rate and dedicated. The community and parental support is overwhelmingly positive. The Board of Directors is proactive, caring, knowledgeable and professional stewards. LLCA fills a community need and small class size coupled with a caring faculty, rigorous curriculum, and a beautiful new building in a natural setting offers students a unique educational opportunity.”
Mr. Keever officially joined LLCA on May 9, 2016.
