Lake Lure Olympiad Summer Sports Festival

Rumbling Bald Resort & Chimney Rock State Park
- The 12th annual sports festival is three days of competitive sporting events in Lake Lure and Chimney Rock. The festivities kick off on Friday evening at Rumbling Bald Resort with Opening Ceremonies, a 10K Dam run, 1-Mile OWS, and the Couch to Cart Path Run. Competitors then wake up Saturday for the Lake Lure Triathlon consisting of a 750 meter swim, 22.3K bike and a 5K run along a mapped out course at the resort. Families can share in the competitive events with plenty of activities including the Junior Olympiad. Finishing the weekend is the ultimate racing challenge: the 5K run or 25-Mile bike to the top of Chimney Rock. Both races end with a 7-9% grade incline that finishes at the base of the 315 foot tall Chimney Rock. The Lake Lure Olympiad is a nonprofit organization that has given back more than $300,000 to community charities.
7th Annual Dirty Dancing Festival

- Relive the moments of Baby and Johnny from your lawn chairs or blankets on Friday evening with a lakeside screening of the iconic film ‘Dirty Dancing’, held inside Morse Park in Lake Lure. Enjoy snacks, beverages and film merchandise throughout the show. Gates open at 4pm with a special performance by “Charlie vs Swayze” YouTube sensation Charlie Stone at 7pm! - On Saturday, get ready to have the time of your life! Grab your dancing shoes and come back to the park to enjoy a full day of festival fun. Learn the iconic dance moves from Asheville Ballet, listen to live bands, watch the shag competition, or try the watermelon contest. There will also be local handmade arts and crafts, food and beer garden, plus games and The Lake Lift Competition! Proceeds benefit Pancreatic Cancer Action Network.
