We at the Town of Lake Lure were delighted to learn that The Rutherford County Tourism Development Authority (RCTDA) has recently named Don Cason as its permanent executive director. Cason has served as interim director since last spring, and as a member of the board since 2015.
“Since moving to the area, Don has really jumped in and become a strong advocate for tourism and economic development all across the county,” said Lake Lure Mayor Bob Keith.
Richard Lundy, TDA board chair, said the board has been impressed with Cason’s performance as interim director and that they unanimously felt he was the right candidate for the position.
“Don has served the TDA with professionalism and expertise as a board member and as interim director” he said. “His vast expertise in economic development, hospitality and tourism coupled with his positive, team-player attitude will benefit our county’s tourism economy. I look forward to his continued leadership and development of tourism for Rutherford County.”
Cason’s experience spans decades in the tourism, economic development and hospitality industries. Prior to moving to Chimney Rock Village, Cason spent eight years as the president and CEO of the Jefferson County Chamber of Commerce in Tennessee.
After having moved to Chimney Rock Village, he joined the boards of the Hickory Nut Gorge Chamber of Commerce as well as the Chimney Rock Village Community Development Association, all while operating the Esmeralda Inn with his wife, Kim.
