Rutherford Regional Health System (RRHS) has announced the addition of Joshua Edgerton, MD, a general surgeon, to its medical staff and Rutherford Surgical Associates. He began work August 15.


He joins a practice featuring three other board-certified surgeons, including Dr. Thomas Bolling, Dr. Rod Goncalves and Dr. William Haden.


“A top priority for our health system is to bring new providers to our community and we are extremely excited about the addition of Dr. Edgerton,” said James Atkins, CEO at RRHS. “He is an extremely skilled and personable surgeon. He not only meets a need for our health system and surgical practice, but for the community as well. He should be very well-received for his expertise and bedside manner.”


Dr. Edgerton has just completed the Phoenix Integrated Surgical Residency at the University of Arizona College of Medicine in Phoenix, AZ. Prior to that he completed his medical degree from Chicago Medical School at Rosalind Franklin University of Medicine and Science in North Chicago, IL.


He also holds a master’s degree in Biomedical Sciences from Rosalind Franklin University of Medicine and Science, and a bachelor’s degree in Biology from Taylor University in Upland, IN. Additionally, he completed the Oxford Study Program in Developmental Biology.


Dr. Edgerton holds memberships in the American Medical Association and the American College of Surgeons.
