Beautiful weather and a big crowd in the Gorge looking for the leaves to change set the stage for another highly successful Autumn Lake Lure Arts & Crafts Festival. The event was once again a sell out for the festival host organization, The Hickory Nut Gorge Outreach. Outreach volunteers fully staffed the event. Over 80 artisan-vendors participated in the event along with a dozen food and beverage vendors. The crowds were entertained continuously throughout the 2-day annual event by talented musicians, singers and dancers, including the Lake Lure Cloggers who perform regularly at this numerous other local and regional events. The festival organizers estimate that 1,500 to 2,000 visitors come to the event each day and many have been coming to these festivals year after year. There’s no doubt that this festival has emerged as a major entertainment attraction for visitors to Rutherford County and the western NC.
