In the spirit of the season, we wish all of our readers peace. Our beautiful Gorge and the surrounding country, the lakes and the glorious heavens all reflect the peace we can find here. We are the fortunate ones. In our moments of pondering and our wandering walks we can breathe deeply the clean air, see the magnificent seasons changing before us and welcome friends and family who always marvel at Paradise found.
We need to have peace in our lives. Our world does not offer it. The last eighteen months have been brutal. I am not sure the future will be different unless we decide to make it different in our circles of influence. We must seek to create peaceful environments where those things that are good, noble and pure are discussed and deeds to help the less fortunate are done.
Many of us are living at a slower pace where the pressure of work, deadlines and an ever changing workplace are behind us. Stretched before us are days where we can allocate time to what matters the most to us. As the scholar and translator Eugene Peterson writes: “You’re blessed when you’re content with just who you are-no more, no less. That’s the moment you find yourselves proud owners of everything that can’t be bought.” By the way, those original words were spoken by the one who called himself the “Prince of Peace.” Many of us will be celebrating His birth in this season.
May all of us strive to bring peace to our lives. I wish you contentment as you live in the spirit of this season.
