Early Spring Walks

Join one of our naturalists to enjoy this slower time of year to discover Mother Nature preparing for the season ahead. This hike is approximately 1.5 miles and takes around an hour.

Spring Break Family Fun

Join one of our Park Naturalists for an informal program where your family will love meeting some of our wilder teammates! Kids of all ages are sure to take home some fun facts and special memories. Then, grab a Track Trail brochure at Grady’s Animal Discovery Den and round out the day with a hike along our Great Woodland Adventure trail with 12 education stations. Don’t forget your camera!

Naturalist Niche: Spring Early Bird Walk

Grab your binoculars and meet a local naturalist for this early bird walk that starts before the Park opens to other guests. Space is limited to 15, and advance registration is required, so call 800-277-9611 to reserve your spot! Spring Birding is part of our Naturalist Niche series

62nd Annual Easter Sunrise Service
Sunday, April, 16, 2017

Gate opens at 5:00 – 6:00 AM. Service begins at 6:30 AM


Celebrate the glory of Easter with song, scripture and spiritual music as a spectacular sunrise ascends over Lake Lure. Chimney Rock’s nondenominational Annual Easter Sunrise Service has become a legendary event in WNC, attracting more than 1,000 early risers from around the Southeast.

**Please Note: Due to the large number of guests who attend the service, no one can be admitted through the gate after 6am.

Admission to the Sunrise Service is FREE. Guests are invited to stay and enjoy the Park all day. A Breakfast Buffet will be offered at the Old Rock Café following the service for $9.99 for adults and $5.99 for children under 10; drinks are not included. Guests who would like to return to the Park after breakfast can show their Old Rock receipt and bulletin at the Ticket Plaza to receive free admission for the day.

Join Chimney Rock State Park rangers, biologists and other environmental educators to learn about the incredible work being done to protect our beautiful landscape. Education stations will be located in Chimney Rock Village behind the Old Rock Café along the Rocky Broad Riverwalk. Kids will have the chance to earn a Grady’s Kids Club Annual Pass to Chimney Rock at Chimney Rock State Park. Fun for the whole family!

Popovich Pet Travel Show

The Fork

Fifteen years ago, The Fork Horse Trials was created and held at Norwood, North Carolina. It has since grown into one of the most prestigious Eventing Championship competitions on the North American calendar. While remaining in its home state, The Fork Horse Trials will be relocating to Mill Spring in April 2017. CIC 3* and Advanced competitors coming to The Fork will be the first to experience the extended turf course designed by Captain Mark Phillips and Tremaine Cooper. Spectators can expect to see three competitions; Show Jumping, Dressage, and Cross Country competitions. Sunday to be the biggest competition day of the trials!
