It has often times been said, “Home is where the heart is”. In the case of Western North Carolina native, Christopher “Chris” Brown, he has found this to be a true statement. Chris was born and raised in the Marion, McDowell County and Green Hill, Bills Creek and Lure areas. He is a 1991 graduate of McDowell High School. Chris enlisted in the United States Marine Corps, at the age of 17 and served as an Enlisted and Commissioned Officer of Marines. He holds a Master’s Degree in Business Administration and numerous certificates in a variety of areas. Chris retired from Camp Lejeune, North Carolina, July 2015, after honorably and faithfully serving for more than 23 years. After contemplating on where he wanted to settle down and “grow roots” for the second phase of his life, Chris concluded that when you can’t decide where you want to go, you can always go home. He relocated back to western North Carolina, May 2016.

In addition to his return home, Chris is happy to announce that his newly renovated establishment, Victory Kitchen and Restaurant (VKR) is now open for breakfast and lunch.  VCR is open Tuesday-Friday 8:00 AM-2:00 pm. and Saturday’s 7:00 AM-3:00 pm. at 961 Buffalo Creek Road, Lake Lure. victorykitcheninc@yahoo.com,
