National Trail Day

Gears & Gables Ride for Housing

Gears and Gables is an annual fundraising and cycling event benefiting Rutherford Housing Partnership. Proceeds from the race help fund urgent repairs to homes in our community. The ride will feature a 24-mile, 41-mile and 62-mile route through the scenic back roads of Rutherford County and the Blue Ridge Foothills.

 

MAYFEST

Take to the streets for the festival gets under way at 10AM with plenty of arts and crafts vendors, face painting artists, pottery sales, and hands-on kids activates from KidSenses Interactive Children’s Museum. Treat yourselves to the diverse selection of fair food from funnel cakes, fried pies, and homemade lemonade to delicious barbecue, fried turkey legs, and roasted corn on the cob. Plus there is plenty of desserts to choose.

MAYFEST offers an abundance of entertainment to keep you moving and shaking all day. Kids will never want to leave “Play Land”, an activity center filled with inflatables, mechanical rides and a rock climbing wall. Dance performances, interactive booths and the annual Derby Race will take place throughout the day. Don’t miss live music by crowd favorites Caleb Gilbert Band at 11AM and Wiregrass at 3PM on the courthouse lawn.

Classic auto enthusiasts will be thrilled to see the newest addition to MAYFEST this year- a car, truck, and motorcycle show sponsored by and hosted in the parking lot of Gregory’s Restaurant off Charlotte Road from 9AM-2PM, followed by an award’s ceremony.  Visitors will end this amazing day with the band “Heart Breaker” performing on the car show stage from 6-11PM. Heart Breaker is a Heart tribute band, a must see for anyone in the area who’s an 80’s fan!

Spring Go Festival

Saturday, May 13th

The Gathering Place, Chimney Rock Village

Join us for a pancake breakfast from 7-10AM. Parade starts at 11 ad the Cow pie Bingo happens from 9AM-2PM. There will be a recycled garden art auction, live music, and a sidewalk sale. Stay around for the Symphony of Rutherford County to perform starting at 6:30 PM. Dinner is available.

 

Spring Lake Lure Arts & Crafts Festival

A Lake Lure tradition of over 30 years, featuring the cultural heritage of “mountain art and fine craft making”. Located across from the Beach at Lake Lure, local artisans’ works of paintings, photography, wood, jewelry, textiles, pottery, soaps, candles, and more are on display for purchase. Throughout the festival, families will find kids activities, face painting, and mini golf. Then enjoy live music or take a stroll through the food court to find a wide variety of food and beverage vendors.

 

Forest City Owls Baseball

The Forest City Owls are a two-time, national championship collegiate wooden-bat baseball team. The Coastal Plain League season opens on Tuesday, May 30th.
