Help Us Help Golf Tournament is back for its 14th year of raising hope and cheer for children across Rutherford County. Since 2003, employees of Rumbling Bald Resort have come together to volunteer for the annual golf tournament which funds the ultimate goal of providing Christmas presents to children less fortunate. The initiative began with one child and has grown to twenty in 2016. Help Us Help even more children this year by participating in the golf tournament on Saturday, November 11th at noon, held at the Bald Mountain Golf Course. Main Street, Forest City
Create new traditions and lasting memories this year experiencing the magic as over one million lights come to life at the Hometown Holiday’s celebration in downtown Forest City. Kicking off the month long festivities is the annual Christmas Lighting Ceremony on Thanksgiving night, November 23rd. At 6:00 pm the town will welcome residents and visitors alike with live music from ‘In His Glory Quartet’, a raffle drawing and the lighting of the tree by the mayor. Santa’s House opens at 7:00 pm with complimentary cookies and hot cocoa. Families will also enjoy the outdoor ice skating rink open until 9:00 pm.
The Forest City Christmas Parade will be held on Sunday, November 26th beginning at McNair Field at 3:00 pm. Sponsored by the Forest City Merchants Association, the parade travels east on Main Street and ends at Forest City Methodist Church.
Each week in December, Friday-Sunday for three weeks, Forest City will host a multitude of Christmas Festivities on Main Street.

Small Town Christmas

Downtown Rutherfordton will be getting “In the Christmas Spirit” with our Christmas Celebration on Saturday December 2nd, 2017. The town will be helping you fill your stockings with local merchandise as we host our Open House and Christmas Marketplace beginning at 1:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. Stroll through our outdoor marketplace and through our local shops to find that perfect gift.
Live Mannequins will be in the windows from 2:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. Santa’s helpers will be making toys for all those good girls and boys as Santa and Mrs. Claus stroll Main Street to hear the children’s Christmas dreams.
A Christmas Parade which will start in Spindale at 3:30 p.m. and Rutherfordton under the lights at 5:00 pm. After the parade we would love for you to join us as we light North Carolina’s largest living Christmas tree on the Courthouse lawn. Ol’ 74 Jazz will be playing our favorite carols as we celebrate the lighting of the tree once again.

Chimney Rock Village Christmas

The First Friday in December ushers in the annual hometown celebration of Christmas in Chimney Rock Village. Join us on December 3rd for our annual Chili Cook-off and Christmas Tree Lighting Ceremony. The festivities kick off at 5:00 pm with ample comfort food, including chili, cornbread, a cake walk, bingo games, and the annual lighting of the Christmas tree.
Then on the first two Saturdays in December, from noon to 4:00 pm, Santa Claus will be on hand in the village to hand out stockings to the children. As families do their Christmas shopping throughout the village, local merchants will put goodies in the kids’ stockings. Local musicians will also be performing in the village.

Veteran’s Day Special: Free Admission

Naturalist Niche: Fall Ridge Hike

This more-strenuous hike leads participants off-the-beaten-path to an area of the Park seldom seen by guests. As you meander up the mountain, you’ll hear about the natural history, geology, flora and fauna that make Chimney Rock so unique. Space is limited to 15, and advance registration is required, so call 800-277-9611 today to reserve your spot. The Fall Ridge Hike is part of our Naturalist Niche series. Join an expert naturalist on park trails once a month March – December to learn about birding, old growth trees, ancient geology and other fascinating outdoor topics.
Cost: Includes Park admission: $22 Adult, $7 Annual Pass holder, $12 Youth (ages 5-15), $5 Grady’s Kids Club Member. Advance registration required.
Family Animal Encounters
Friday & Saturday, November 24th & 25th; at 2:00 pm
Chimney Rock is home to incredible wildlife, and we are lucky to have Animal Educators to help us spread the word on the important roles they play in the Park. Grab a Track Trail brochure at Grady’s Animal Discovery Den and round out the day with a hike along our Great Woodland Adventure trail with 12 education stations.

Santa on the Chimney
