The Carri Bass Art Gallery is excited to host an Artist Spotlight for local sculptor Diane Breaker titled ‘Soul Searching’ on Friday, January 26, 2018 between 5:00 and 8:30 pm. at 94 N. Trade Street in Tryon, NC. This event is free to the public and will provide appetizers and drinks and will highlight more than 20 of the latest sculptures that the artist describes as ‘Souls’.   Breaker says, “Each piece is a modern interpretation of our spiritual essence, the core of our being, and the focus of this show is based on the search of that elusive inner beauty.”

While many of Breaker’s elongated figures may appear to be metallic, they are, in fact, created from porcelain and stoneware clays which are then, glazed and kiln fired to bring forth their surface effect. One sculpture, titled ‘The Giving Soul’, will be silent auctioned with its proceeds given as a charitable gift to The Hickory Nut Gorge Outreach, a non-profit organization which helps to give food to local children and families in need.

Breaker, who grew up in the western suburbs of Chicago now resides in Lake Lure with her husband, Mike.
