Annual CowPie Bingo, Village Parade, and Symphony Concert Round out the Day

Join the Symphony of Rutherford County on Mother’s Day weekend, May 12th for its only outdoor concert of the year. As part of the Chimney Rock Village annual SpringGo Celebration to officially welcome the spring season, the Symphony will assemble in the Gathering Place Amphitheatre to play an encore of favorites from its spring concert.

Come early to purchase a pre-concert grilled dinner, and then listen to some beautiful music as the sun sets behind Chimney Rock Mountain.
The SpringGo Festival and Symphony Concert is the unique idea and just one of the many endeavors behind the Chimney Rock Village Community Development Association’s work as the non-profit promotional arm for this small community.

In looking over the day’s schedule for SpringGo, one might be prompted to ask what the prestige of a Symphony has to do with cows and yes, cow pooh!

It turns out; the answer is quite a bit if you’re part of the creative force behind the CDA. Consider that, at one end of the village; there will be a Bingo raffle involving live cows “producing” pooh in a large grid marked off like a Bingo Card. The area receiving the largest deposit reveals the big winner.

Only 150 tickets are sold at $25 each. The winner gets half, and the CDA gets the other half. Then, at 3 pm the world’s shortest parade gets underway complete with fire trucks, the village merchants, candy, Little Miss and Little Mr. SpringGo, and of course, a Holstein dairy cow for a mascot.  Add to the day a collection of custom-made funky and whimsical potted plants made from recycled materials that will be for sale in the village.

As the day winds down, and the cows retire for the evening, white tablecloths come out at the Gathering Place. The grills fire up, folks sit down to dine, and the Symphony gets ready to play.  The audience settles in and enjoys the sprawling views of Chimney Rock Mountain while the sound of music fills the air.

Admission to the concert is $6 for adults, free for children ten and under. Proceeds support the beautification of Chimney Rock Village and its ability to continue to bring entertainment to the Gorge.

Plan ahead: Things you may wish to bring, a lawn chair, a jacket, a cooler with your favorite beverage, and cash if you plan to buy dinner.  In addition to steak and chicken, a vegetarian option will also be available as will plenty of homemade desserts.
