Where does the time go? Spring Break has come and gone and we are heading to the finish line at the speed of light, or so it seems!

A great many positive events are on the horizon. Our Senior Class of 2018 will graduate on May 31, 6:30 PM at Isothermal Community College’s Foundation. This Senior Class has distinguished itself academically and we are eagerly awaiting the winners of the Everette Chapman Scholarship, the Vista/Bill’s Mountain Scholarship and the Lake Lure Classical Education Foundation Scholarship. These are all local scholarships that benefit and support the continuance of very deserving students for his or her next step in the education journey. It is a competitive class without question.

Our last day of school is Friday, June 8. The following Monday, June 11 construction begins in earnest on the Gymatorium. We are planning an official groundbreaking ceremony and the community is invited. We will announce this date as soon as we have it confirmed.

I am very pleased with how well our High School Dual Enrollment is progressing. The dual-enrollment for Isothermal Community College Classes for the 2018-2019 school year is currently 40 students which is half of our Junior and Senior classes. We are very pleased and appreciative of the tremendous relationship we have with Isothermal Community College.

One of our eleventh grade students, Judah Zdziarski has been recognized by Isothermal Community College as the top student in English 200. He will be recognized at a program at Isothermal Community College on April 27.

This year we are offering several summer learning opportunities. Reading Camp will be available for any student Grade Kindergarten to Grade three that is not at grade level. Families have already been informed if their student qualifies. Once again we will offer three weeks of Summer Day Camps. The camps are ○ Around the World July 9-12 ○ LLCA Has Talent July 16-19 ○ STEM Camp July 23-26  please contact the school, 828-825-9292 or Camp Director Katelyn Hutchins at kjhutchins@llca.school if you have a first through eighth grade student interested in participating.

We will also offer the very well received Lake Lure Classical Academy’s Free Kindergarten Camp July 31, 2018- Aug. 2, 2018 Time: 9:00am-12 Noon. Parents interested may sign up on the schools web page or call 828-625-9292. This is a wonderful chance for our new kindergarten students to begin the adjustment to his or her new school.
