The volunteers at the Lake Lure Flowering Bridge are very thankful people! And why wouldn’t we be? We live in a gorgeous area, maintain a beautiful flowering bridge, with the Rocky Broad River running under us, the majestic Chimney Rock Mountain above us and surrounded by the amazing vistas of the Hickory Nut Gorge. In addition, we are of a like mind: we love to garden, work out-doors, get our hands dirty, and interact with the many visitors to our bridge. I have read that the practice of thankfulness makes us happy and helps us to appreciate the things we do, and it is easy to believe when our visitors shower us with praise on a regular basis.

Danny Holland, one of the volunteers, suggested that our Flowering Bridge guest book, filled with lovely sentiments by our visitors, would be fun to share. I totally agree, and have added some of their comments for you to enjoy:

Here is peace – and a reminder that there is balance in the world if we keep our eyes open. Thank you for this wonderful gift.

Father’s Day. Dear Flowering Bridge volunteers, keeper, and staff. Words cannot express the love and respect I share with all of you. Your creativity, green thumbs, kindness for nature, and love and support for our community overwhelms me. As I sit, listening to the church bells and looking all around me, it truly makes my heart sing. Lucky are we to have you and this.

So I found a blank page, and that in itself is a blessing. Just like walking through this garden and the Flowering Bridge. Today is my Grandmother’s 90th birthday and her 4th in Heaven. She was an avid gardener and enjoyed flowers. Thank you for this wonderful place to reflect on her memory. God Bless.   Jennifer, VA

Our first visit to Lake Lure. Loved this stop and the Flowering Bridge. Speaks so well of the community and volunteers giving love and hours to share the beauty of their land. Thank you, Randy & Virginia, Paducah, KY

We were only in the Lake Lure are for a five day vacation, but after discovering the Flowering Bridge I have visited it three times. Absolutely beautiful and fully appreciated. I am sharing this with everyone I know. Worth the stop. A very happy place on earth. God bless all your efforts always.   Laura Sawyer, Chesterfield, MI

Please pass on my appreciation as a local that things are always changing on the bridge. It’s nice to see something new each time we go. Laura Shield, Lake Lure
