Welcome to all of our visitors. You have come at a magical time as another spring is upon us. Be sure to get in some good hikes along the many trails, visit the fabulous Flowering Bridge and see the magnificent views from high above in Chimney Rock State Park. This is a great time of year for a round of golf on one of the many courses nearby. Enjoy yourselves in our playground.
We hope you will stay a while, as the saying goes. Perhaps you already know that this is where you want to retire. If so, you will join the ranks of many before you who have been captivated by the beauty and charmed by the hospitality of this area.
Many years ago, Chuck and Joselyn Watkins made that decision. They came and went for a while until Chuck could retire from his career. They built a beautiful home on Lake Lure. Chuck served on too many committees and boards to count, was an active church member and was always available to lend a hand on any project you might need a hand on. Dave and I were the recipients of many days of Chuck’s generosity. He and Joselyn adopted us into their family.
Have you ever known someone that when they walk in the room, you are just glad to be in their company? That was how it was with Chuck. His good natured personality filled a room. Just a few weeks ago, Chuck graduated into heaven. It’s probably springtime there also. All things have been made new and we are happy he is free from pain. But we are sure going to miss him.
Thank you, Chuck for showing us how to live. Peace to his memory.
