This year the Olympiad was invited to join the Carolina Swim Series managed by Set Up Events. This swim will be held on Saturday, June 8th, 2019 at 10:00am on the Lake Lure Town Beach. There will be a 1.5 Mile Race and a 3.0 Mile Race. Lake Lure Tours is the Presenting Sponsor for this new open water swim competition. The Olympia Board is excited to have a new venue with new opportunities for the athletes to experience in the Town Center of Lake Lure. There are seven swim races in the Carolina Swim Series and the Olympiad is the only lake swim and the only race being held in the western part of the state. The other six races are on the North and South Carolina coasts.

This will be the 15th year for the August Lake Lure Olympiad and the dates for 2019 are August 9 – 11.  On Friday the Golf Tournament will kick off the weekend followed by the “Slam the Dam!” 10K which begins at Ingles Market and finishes on the beach at Rumbling Bald Resort. The “Dare to Tri” Triathlon and the Jr Olympiad (for children 4 – 14) will take place on Saturday at the resort. An ice cold neck towel, homemade post-race food and drinks, great race shirts and ice cream sundaes await the athletes at the finish line. Sunday’s two races start in Chimney Rock Village where athletes will attempt to “Dominate the Rock” in Chimney Rock State Park. This can be accomplished by doing a 5K Run or a 25 Mile Bike Race. The celebration at the top includes post-race fruit and snacks, a hot dog roast and a mind blowing view that will make it all worthwhile!

For the hard core athletes it is possible to take on the “Three Race in Three Days Challenge”… 56 athletes accepted and completed this challenge in 2018. Who is ready to accept the challenge in 2019?  More information at
