We’re a community of volunteers, givers, and supporters –no doubt about that. When asked to bolster a project, program or event, our residents can be depended on to help pull it off.  It’s just one of the many characteristics that make the Gorge such a special place to live, play, or work.

But what if there is yet another important opportunity to specifically support the youth of our area that you may not have considered? What if that opportunity didn’t require you to do anything but have fun, cheer, clap, and encourage a young person who is giving it their all?

Within our own backyard, that opportunity does exist throughout the winter! Whether you come alone, as a couple or you pull together a group of friends for a unique outing, why not come out and support the student athletes of Lake Lure Classical Academy for the 2019-2020 Basketball Season?

Together, let’s channel that great supportive spirit we already possess and use it to help strengthen the  home team advantage. Let’s show our students that we are here, and that we are pulling for their athletic endeavors.

And in case you’re wondering, these aren’t just a group of kids playing community basketball.

Athletic Director and Boys Basketball Coach, Tripp Searcy explains: “The athletic teams at LLCA compete in the Western Piedmont Athletic Conference (W.P.A.C.) along with nine other schools. The teams also compete in the Carolina State Athletic Association (C.S.A.A.) which is comprised of over 25 schools from both North Carolina and South Carolina. Being a part of both of these athletic associations allows our students and teams to participate in multiple post-season tournaments.”
