The Chimney Rock Management staff knew we would face some challenges this year with some closures due to our upper parking lot project, but never in our wildest dreams could we have imagined that the whole world would be closed down and business would be brought to a screeching halt due to a global pandemic.

There is a silver lining, though. The contractors have been able to keep working without interruption and are making great progress in restoring the retaining wall and refurbishing the parking area that was severely damaged due to excessive rainfall in the fall of 2017 and the spring of 2018. We definitely miss our guests and each other as we work remotely and apart during this difficult time. We miss the opportunity to connect you with the breathtaking spring season in Chimney Rock State Park and Hickory Nut Gorge. Although we are all isolating ourselves for the greater good, we still want to connect and hear from you. If you haven’t been following our Facebook and Instagram channels, please take a look. We’re sharing interactive experiences like virtual hikes and educational programs as well as providing downloadable family fun activities that can be done at home. We want to bring the Park to you as much as we possibly can.

We also want to make it as easy as possible for you to come see the Park for yourself when this virus is contained and we feel comfortable to go out again, so we’re offering an online spring special on our annual passes. Adult passes are now just $27, and youth are only $10. These passes are good for a full year from your first visit, once we can reopen. This special offer is only valid until May 31st. Go to for more information on this promotional offer.

Although the future may seem foggy, we are all in this together and there will be clarity beyond the fog.  For now, stay home and stay healthy. We are all looking forward to the day when we can see you again.
