Mountains Branch Library Branch Manager
The year 2020 has been crazy and we don’t know what the remainder will hold, but one way or the other, Mountains Branch Library will be celebrating 25 years in November! Can you believe that 25 years ago several people decided that a library was needed in this area and that is how we began? Watch for more information on our celebration.
In case you didn’t know, we ARE OPEN 10:00 – 4:00 Monday through Friday. We miss you and can’t wait to see you!
Ms. Tamara, Rutherford County Library Children’s Librarian, held a very special story time at the Flowering Bridge in Lake Lure on August 4, 2020. She had locals and visitors alike, and they had a great time. Thank you to Friends of Lake Lure Flowering Bridge for partnering with Ms. Tamara for this fun event. We hope she will be back up here soon to do it again!
We are so glad that Susan Zurenda from Spartanburg, SC was able to come for Books & Bites. Almost 30 guests in attendance at the Lake Lure Inn to eat a delicious lunch, meet the author of Bells for Eli and some social distancing socialization. I think we all left Books & Bites with a bit more pep in our step from hearing Susan speak and seeing our friends and neighbors.
We are sorry to announce that Kristin Harmel has cancelled her visit to Lake Lure for Books & Bites due to COVID and travelling concerns.
John Cribb will be coming to us for an evening Books & Bites event. John is the author of Old Abe: A Novel. Part history – part fiction – all exciting. John will be speaking at the Lake Lure Inn on Thursday, October 8, 2020 for cocktail hour. Your $25 donation will include heavy appetizers, the chance to purchase his autographed book, and time spent listening to John talk about his novel. There will be a cash bar available. Please call the library at 828-287-6392 to hold your spot and make arrangements for your donation.
