Hickory Nut Gorge Foundation acknowledges first endowment bequest
The Hickory Nut Gorge Foundation (HNGF) is honored to acknowledge a significant bequest to their Endowment Fund from the estate of Mr. James Dunn. Mr. Dunn and his friends founded the Hickory Nut Gorge Foundation in 2006 and established our Endowment fund. The bequest is significant in several ways: • It is the very first bequest received by Hickory Nut Gorge Foundation. • It provides a significant boost to the Endowment Fund, which has been in existence since 2006, providing grant funds every year that go to nonprofits in the Hickory Nut Gorge area. • It is fitting that it comes from its founder and proves his commitment to the Foundation’s mission of Giving Beyond the Horizon. He originated the slogan, and now truly fulfills it.
Jack Barton, Hickory Nut Gorge Foundation Chairman, said: “We are honored and grateful for this generous gift to our Endowment Fund. Jim Dunn was a friend to many in the Hickory Nut Gorge, and had a lifelong vision of it as a place to love, to live, and to leave your legacy. He has now left us with a wonderful example of how to honor this place.
The Hickory Nut Gorge Foundation was created to establish an endowment that will last forever. Its purpose is to help preserve, improve and serve the environment, wildlife and people who live in the Gorge, both now and in the future. The Foundation awards grants to nonprofit organizations in the Gorge. Giving to the HNGF makes a permanent difference for future generations that will live in the Gorge, because the earnings from all financial gifts are invested back into the Gorge.
