By the time you read this article, 2020 will have been put to bed and we will all be looking towards a new, and hopefully better, year. Here’s to 2021 and everything it may bring us!

As you know, Mountains Branch Library celebrated 25 years in November. It seems like just a few years ago we were breaking ground on this building but the years have flown by. Our community is just as lucky today to have Mountains Branch Library as it was 25 years ago. We are also just as supported today as we were then and I can’t thank you enough! If you are looking for a way to support your local library, please consider joining the Friends of the Mountains Branch Library. Come in or call for more details.

Activities all around us have had to change direction and focus and Mountains Branch Library is no different. From being closed to opening at reduced hours, to a few programs, to no programs – you have all taken it in stride. We see some of you monthly, some of you weekly, and some of you daily. We are grateful for each and every one of you. Please tell your friends and family that we are here to serve you, that we have over 3,000 DVDs, and about a bajillion (okay…maybe not quite that many) books to check out. We have been sending out take-home kits every week to 10-15 people – just something fun and entertaining to do while we are at home.

Unfortunately, we have had to suspend Preschool Story Time for the time being. We dearly miss our little ones and hope you will continue to bring them in to check out materials for them to read at home. We are also currently pulling back on adult programming for safety concerns.

The Friends of the Mountains Branch Library would like to thank RHI Legacy Foundation for awarding us a grant to be used for AV equipment and a mobile kitchen called The Charlie Cart. The Charlie Cart will be used for cooking demonstrations and healthy living activities within Mountains Branch Library. The cart is amazing and we can’t wait for it to arrive. The AV equipment will be used for library programming as well as for public use when the community room is used.

We at Mountains Branch Library are looking forward to seeing what 2021 will bring us. We hope to see each and every one of you in the library sometime soon!
