Mountains Branch Library Branch Manager

Life seems to be getting back to normal and we couldn’t be more excited! We are seeing more people in Mountains Branch Library – regular patrons, new patrons, and visitors alike – and more people in and around Lake Lure. It seems we have a mini-reunion at Mountains Branch Library with someone at least weekly.

While things are getting back to normal, we are also slowly moving forward. Our children’s Storytime Kits are back on the shelves and available for checkout. Storytime has resumed on Thursdays at 10:30, and Miss Tamara is so glad to see everyone. We are working on new and exciting in-house programming. If you have any programming ideas, give me a call – I would love to hear from you!

Most exciting will be our new Summer Reading Program. The theme this year is Tails and Tales, and it will be like nothing you have ever seen before – stay tuned!

We are very excited to announce that our 2021 Books & Bites Series has already begun. We have an amazing group of authors coming this year and you will not want to miss them. Books & Bites is a series of world-renowned authors who visit our area to promote their book. These authors are award winning, New York Times best-selling authors who travel to our area (and I hear they all fall in love with Lake Lure and her people!) to talk to our small group about their newest release. Our program has been called “The Gem of the South” and I couldn’t agree more. For only a $25.00 donation, you are provided a delicious lunch, a chance to meet the author and purchase the autographed book, plus a lively talk as well as a question and answer session. If you would like to be a part of these amazing events, please call Mountains Branch Library at 828-287-6392 to reserve your spot. Seating is limited so we always recommend signing up early.

5.26.21 Rose Senehi “Falling Off a Cliff”

7.13.21 Karen White “The Last Night in London”

8.3.21 Susan Meissner “The Nature of Fragile Things”

10.19.21 Michael Almond “The Tannery”

Our judge had such a hard time choosing the winner of our first Literary Peep Contest. If you didn’t make it by to see the entries, you missed out. Start planning your diorama for next year to get in on the fun! Congratulations to our winners!
